Red Cross: Flour prices have risen in Afghanistan

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says flour prices in Afghanistan have risen sharply.

Lucien Christine, a spokesman for the Red Cross in Afghanistan, tweeted that the paralysis of the banking system, lack of liquidity and loss of income are severely affecting families’ ability to meet their basic needs.

Recent developments in Afghanistan, meanwhile, have led to an economic crisis in the country, which has led to rising prices for goods, especially food.

Alvin Filion, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan, also called for the full mobilization of the international community to contain the crisis in Afghanistan, noting that people in the country are still trying to find a piece of bread by selling their home appliances.

He added that the deepening economic crisis in Afghanistan has exacerbated the poverty and hunger of its citizens.
