India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council has said she is deeply concerned about the situation of women in Afghanistan.

Emphasizing the role of the Security Council on the situation of women in Afghanistan, THS Tiromuti, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, told a Security Council meeting that he was “deeply concerned” about discrimination against women and the exclusion of girls from education in the country.

Emphasizing women’s participation in the peace and governance process, she added that discriminatory social and political structures in Afghanistan have systematized and deepened violence against women.

The imposition of restrictions on women and girls by the Taliban in Afghanistan has been an issue that has always provoked the reaction of countries around the world, but these restrictions are becoming more and more severe by this group.
