The head of UNAMA visited a girls’ primary school in Kabul
The head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has visited a girls’ primary school in Kabul.
UNAMA has announced that Marks Potzel, the head of the UN mission in Afghanistan, visited a girls’ primary school in Kabul today (Monday).
During his visit and talk with the sixth grade students in this school, he has supported the lifting of the ban on girls’ education in primary schools by the Taliban.
During his visit to this school, the head of UNAMA expressed his hope that no girl in that class and anywhere in Afghanistan will be deprived of education next year.
Yesterday, UNAMA said in a statement that a year has passed since girls above the sixth grade were deprived of education and schools have not yet been reopened for female students in Afghanistan.
In its announcement, this organization has estimated that more than one million girls were banned from going to secondary and high schools last year.
UNAMA once again asked the Taliban to withdraw from the set of measures they have taken to restrict the enjoyment of Afghan women and girls from their basic rights and freedoms.
