The economic deputy of the Taliban announced the start of the construction of the Mazar-e-Sharif-Herat-Kandahar railway line in the near future

The Economic Vice-President of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office has announced that according to the decision of the Economic Commission, the length and location of the Mazar-e-Sharif-Herat-Kandahar railway project has been determined and the preparatory work for this project will begin in the near future.

This Taliban entity wrote in a tweet that according to this decision, the length of the Mazar-e-Sharif-Herat-Kandahar railway project is 1,468 km and will pass through 9 provinces, 37 districts and 800 villages.

The economic deputy of the prime minister’s office added that with the implementation of this project, East Asia will be connected to Iran, Turkey and European countries through Afghanistan.

Also, this project will create a short and economic route between Moscow and Delhi through Afghanistan and will connect Central Asia and Russia to South Asia through Afghanistan.

According to the report of the economic deputy of the prime minister’s office, this project will be completed in two phases, the first phase of which will extend 657 kilometers from Mazar-e-Sharif to Herat and the second phase will extend 811 kilometers from Herat to Farah, Nimroz, Helmand and Spin Boldak, Kandahar.
