Central Bank burned more than 538 million old banknotes

On the second day of their trip to Balkh province, Noor Ahmad Agha, the first deputy of Da Afghanistan Bank, and his delegation burned 538 million old banknotes.

Da Afghanistan Bank said in a statement that these old banknotes worth 538 million and 391 thousand Afghanis were set on fire in Balkh district in order to facilitate transactions.

This bank added that these Mandars banknotes were collected in the north and northeast zone.

The central bank quoted Noor Ahmad Agha, the first vice president of the bank, as saying that these old banknotes were completely old and useless.
