Afghanistan was among the 20 humanitarian crisis countries
Afghanistan was among the 20 countries where the humanitarian situation is likely to worsen in the next year.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has announced today (Thursday) in a report that climate change, the escalation of armed conflicts and the reduction of international support will exacerbate humanitarian crises around the world in 2024.
In the emergency monitoring list of this committee, 20 mainly African countries are mentioned in which there is a possibility of the humanitarian crisis intensifying in the next year.
At the top of this list is Sudan, followed by the occupied territories of Palestine and South Sudan.
Afghanistan and Myanmar are two Asian countries that have been included in this list, followed by Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Ukraine, Ecuador, South America, and Haiti.
The International Rescue Committee added that these 20 countries make up 10% of the world’s population and house 70% of displaced people and an increasing share of those who are facing severe poverty and climate risks.
