The work of Ferydon Snerlioglu, the UN Special Coordinator for Afghanistan, ended in February of this year.
Nasir Ahmad Faiq, the head of Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, calls Fereydon Senerlioglu’s work in Afghanistan a success and says that an independent assessment of Afghanistan is at the center of all international discussions about Afghanistan.
Faiq believes that this evaluation is considered a document for achieving global consensus, the international community’s interaction with the Taliban, solving the Afghan crisis, and creating a coherent strategy.
The head of Afghanistan’s representative office at the United Nations told TOLO News: “Perhaps there were flaws in this report, there were criticisms from different groups of women and different groups of Afghan people regarding the issues mentioned in this report.” ; But overall the mission was successful.
Having said that, the Islamic Emirate emphasizes that the truth should be paid attention to in the reports about Afghanistan and says that the information of the special coordinator of the UN Secretary General about the situation in Afghanistan was better than anything else. But he adds that some parts of the independent evaluation were not acceptable to the interim government.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, told Tolo News: I must say that the information in the report was good. But there were points that are not acceptable to us and there were proposals to appoint a special representative from the United Nations for Afghanistan. It seemed unnecessary on our part.
Vahid Faqiri, an analyst of international issues, also says: “Afghanistan’s representative is determined based on the resolution of the Security Council, which means that the Taliban cannot stop him, whether the Taliban want him or not, the representative is being determined.” His task will be to create a new understanding between the emirate and the world.
