Panjshir Central Prison Construction Begins

Local officials in Panjshir have announced the commencement of construction for the province’s central prison, with a budget of nearly 13 million Afghanis.
This prison is being built on 11 acres of land in Bazarak, the capital of Panjshir, and will have the capacity to accommodate 500 inmates.
A special section is also planned for female prisoners.
Mohammad Agha Hakim, the governor of Panjshir, said: “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has decided to build a standard prison in Panjshir, which will include vocational centers, education and training facilities, and all the necessities that a prisoner may require.”
Hedayatullah Hemmat, the director of Panjshir prison, stated: “The budget for the first phase of this project is twelve million nine hundred thousand Afghanis, which has been allocated by the Prison Department with assistance from the Ministry of Defense.”
The engineer of the project said that this prison will be constructed on 11 jeribs of land in a fundamental and robust manner.
Zinatullah Amarkhil, the project engineer, added: “A separate building has been planned for women, and another for men. Additionally, a recreational yard and industrial facilities will be provided, where they can receive vocational training.”
Local officials in Panjshir say that with the completion of this prison’s construction, the challenges faced by prisoners in the province will be resolved.
