Loan Fund for Afghan Teachers Now Active in 21 Provinces

The Ministry of Education has announced that the loan fund for public school teachers, which was previously operational in four provinces, has now been expanded to 17 additional provinces since the return of the Islamic Emirate, bringing the total to 21 provinces.

Mansoor Ahmad Hamza, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, stated that the purpose of establishing the loan fund is to address the economic challenges faced by teachers in the country.

According to Hamza, the process is carried out under a specific guideline, ensuring loans are provided to teachers based on their level of need.

The spokesperson said: “The loan fund for teachers under the Ministry of Education of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is currently active in 21 provinces. The Ministry has created these funds to address the challenges faced by teachers. Loans are provided based on a specific procedure and the eligibility of teachers.”

At the same time, some public school teachers have expressed satisfaction with the establishment of the loan fund.

Wazhma Elias, a public school teacher, commented on the fund, saying: “Teachers face many challenges because their salaries are very low, and their economic situation is poor.”

Ahmad Qaseem Raufi, another teacher, added: “In the Ministry of Education, there was a fund called the Teacher’s Fund. Teachers who wanted to take loans from this fund were able to borrow up to 25,000 Afghanis, which they would repay monthly from their salaries over the course of a year.”

The Ministry’s spokesperson said that the loan distribution process is managed by the education directorates in the respective provinces, with plans to extend the program to other provinces in the future.
