Islamic Emirate and Iran Discuss Water Rights in Tehran

In a recent meeting between the Deputy Minister of Interior of Iran and a delegation from the Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Emirate in Tehran, the issue of water rights between the two countries was discussed.
Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, the Deputy Minister of Interior of Iran, emphasized that resolving the water rights issue could pave the way for broader economic cooperation between the two nations.
Regarding this matter, the Iranian official stated: “The will of the Iranian nation and government is to enhance engagement with Afghanistan and resolve mutual issues. Water rights are a religious and legal entitlement of our nation. By resolving this issue, we can achieve better outcomes in other economic and security areas.”
He further added that a unified strategy by Afghanistan in combating drug trafficking could yield better results. According to him, Iranian police are equipped with the latest technology and training and are ready to share their experiences with Afghanistan in this field.
Pourjamshidian continued: “Combating drug trafficking today is a scientific endeavor, and traditional methods alone are not sufficient. Fortunately, Iranian police are prepared to share their expertise with Afghanistan.”
Meanwhile, the Afghan Ministry of Energy and Water stated that efforts are underway to ensure the necessary water supply in the border areas between the two countries.
Matiullah Abid, the spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water, told: “We are striving to regulate the water needs of the people of Nimroz province and the neighboring country.”
Mohammad Aslam Danishmal, a political analyst, said: “It is better for issues between the two countries to be resolved through dialogue and discussions based on existing evidence.”
On the 6th of this month, Abdul Haq Akhund, the Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics at the Ministry of Interior, traveled to Iran on an official invitation.
Previously, Abdul Mateen Qane, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, had called on neighboring countries to prevent the smuggling of synthetic drugs into Afghanistan.
