Hakim Sharai in Mecca: Afghanistan Seeks Good Ties with World

Hakim Sharai, the acting minister of justice, emphasized the expansion of relations with all countries, particularly Islamic nations, at the international conference “Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects” in Mecca.

During the conference, the acting minister of justice of the Islamic Emirate highlighted the crucial role of Saudi Arabia in strengthening the interim government’s relations with other countries.

Hakim Sharai stated: “On behalf of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, I convey this message through this conference, that we sincerely seek good relations with all countries, especially Islamic nations. We believe that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia can fully cooperate with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in strengthening ties with the world.”

He also stressed the importance of solidarity among scholars and leaders of different Islamic sects in addressing significant issues, adding that the Islamic Emirate respects all Islamic sects.

The acting minister of justice further stated: “Although the dominant school of jurisprudence in Afghanistan is that of Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him), we firmly believe that understanding and cooperation among scholars of various Islamic schools are essential and crucial in achieving common goals—particularly on major issues requiring religious consensus. Therefore, we respect the imams, scholars, and followers of all Islamic schools of thought in Afghanistan.”

Political analyst Moeen Gul Samkanai, speaking on Saudi Arabia’s role regarding Afghanistan, said: “Saudi Arabia can play an effective role because it maintains relations with both the West and the East. This country can facilitate the establishment of ties between us and regional as well as international nations.”

The two-day conference, organized by the Organization of Islamic Solidarity in Mecca, aimed at strengthening unity among Islamic sects. It was attended by officials and religious scholars from various Islamic countries.
