18 Martyred and Injured in Pakistani Missile Strikes on Kunar

At least 18 people have been martyred or injured in recent missile attacks by Pakistan’s military regime on Kunar province.

Local officials say Pakistani forces targeted civilian areas, destroying a number of residential homes.

Najibullah Hanif, head of Kunar’s Information and Culture Department, told : “As a result of these indiscriminate shellings, we have around 18 injured and one martyr. All of them are civilians. The injured have been transferred to the Kunar provincial hospital, and most have been discharged after treatment.”

Many families have been displaced due to the attacks.

Residents say the strikes have not only destroyed homes but have also left many families in mourning.

One affected resident, Ehsanullah Gojar, said: “I was sitting with my family when a shell hit. My house was destroyed and my belongings were lost. All my household items are gone.”

Another resident, Yahya, said: “Houses are empty; no one is here anymore because homes have been hit. Belongings are scattered, and villages have been deserted.”

Many of the wounded were taken to Kunar provincial hospital, where they described what they witnessed.

One injured man, Riazullah, said: “I was standing in the street when a shell hit. My father, sister, I, and another brother were all injured.”

Another injured person, Hamza, said: “I had just finished evening prayer and left the mosque when a shell hit, and I was injured in the leg by shrapnel.”

Meanwhile, sources told that forces of the Islamic Emirate have removed barbed wire installed by Pakistan along the hypothetical  Durand Line in parts of Kunar and Paktia provinces.

The sources added that Afghan forces are now in control of the area, claiming that Pakistani forces have abandoned their posts.
