More Than 35,000 Surgeries Performed at Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital

Officials at the Balkh Public Health Directorate say that during the past year, more than 35,000 minor and major surgeries were successfully performed at the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital.
According to the spokesperson for the Balkh Public Health Directorate, nearly 85,000 patients were admitted to the hospital during this period.
Kamal Khan Zadran, spokesperson for the Balkh Public Health Directorate, said: “We have carried out more than 35,000 surgeries. These operations were performed in the departments of neurosurgery, orthopedics, ear, nose and throat, dentistry, as well as dermatology and other departments.”
Officials of the Balkh Public Health Directorate add that over the past year, more than 432,000 patients visited the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital and received medical treatment services.
At the same time, a number of doctors report improvements in the quality of healthcare services and the provision of advanced medical equipment, saying that during the past year, complex operations for which patients previously had to travel abroad are now being successfully performed at this hospital.
Ahmad Samir Niazi, head of the intensive care unit, said: “The entire oxygen system is supplied through an oxygen plant machine, and we have at our disposal all the facilities required for the intensive care unit in accordance with standard principles.”
Dr. Ahmad Mehdi Alami said: “Brain tumor surgeries, brain hemorrhage surgeries, and spinal surgeries related to neurosurgery have been performed, and in the general surgery department, laser or laparoscopic operations and cystoscopy procedures have also been carried out.”
On the other hand, a number of patients and their attendants, despite some shortcomings, have expressed satisfaction with the improved process of delivering healthcare services in various sections of the hospital.
Mohammad Khan, a patient, said: “The doctors at the public hospital took very good care of us. The operation went very well, no problem remains for me, and I have made good progress.”
Abdullah, a patient attendant, said: “The operation was done well. It has now been three nights that we have been here, and the doctors are also taking good care of us. I am very grateful to the officials, doctors, and staff of this hospital.”
With increasing needs, and following restrictions on patients’ travel abroad, especially to Pakistan, visits to domestic healthcare centers have increased, and this has played an important role in expanding services and improving the capacity of the country’s hospitals.
