Construction Begins on 25-km Road Linking Panjshir and Takhar

Construction of a 25-kilometer road connecting Panjshir province to Takhar province was launched on Wednesday.

Local officials in Panjshir say the road begins in the Khawak area of Panjshir and extends to Warsaj district in Takhar.

According to them, the project costs 450 million Afghanis and is funded by the Islamic Emirate.

Mohammad Agha Hakim, the governor of Panjshir, said: “This project will contribute to economic growth and the development of our country. Today, we are witnessing its launch.”

Ahmadullah Badr, Panjshir’s police chief, also said: “This project will connect people and bring closer the residents of Panjshir and Takhar, linking the two provinces.”

Azizullah, the contractor engineer, added: “This road is 25 kilometers long and will connect Panjshir and Takhar. The budget exceeds 450 million Afghanis, and it will be completed within the next 14 months.”

Residents of Parian district in Panjshir, who live along the route, have welcomed the project.

They say that in the past, due to the lack of a standard road, they faced many difficulties in transportation and the movement of goods.

Mohammad Naqeeb, a resident of Panjshir, said: “We faced many challenges because there was no proper road. As a result, food prices were very high, and people could not easily access essential goods.”

Another resident, Masjidi, added: “Previously, this route was not even suitable for vehicles or animals and was only a footpath. Now, with the start of this road project, we are very happy because the two provinces will be connected.”

Abdul Hai also said: “With the connection of Panjshir to Takhar, people’s problems will be reduced. We ask the project authorities to build this road to proper standards.”

Local officials emphasize that once completed, the project will help facilitate transportation, boost economic growth, and improve transit conditions in the region.

Previously, a road connecting Panjshir to Kuran wa Munjan district in Badakhshan was also built, and another route has linked Panjshir to Nuristan.
