Over 600 Arrested in Over 500 Criminal Cases in Balkh

Balkh police say that more than 500 criminal cases were recorded in the province over the past year, with over 600 people arrested in connection with them.
According to officials, most of these cases are related to murder, theft, moral corruption, and other crimes.
Balkh police spokesperson Mohammad Isa Wasiq said while sharing a one-year report with the media: “From the beginning of 1404 until now, 503 different cases have been recorded, including 24 murder cases, 130 theft cases, 24 moral corruption cases, and 327 other related incidents.”
He added that more than 350 cases related to the sale and trafficking of narcotics were also recorded in Balkh, with 416 people arrested.
The spokesperson said: “416 individuals have been arrested for selling and trafficking narcotics, and 135 kilograms and 762 grams, along with 174 liters of various narcotic substances, have been seized.”
Residents of Mazar-e-Sharif have also complained about rising levels of certain crimes and are calling on authorities to take serious action.
A resident, Noor Agha Sultani, said: “Police are working to ensure security in Balkh, but in recent days theft has slightly increased. We want them to pay more attention and step up their efforts.”
Another resident, Amirullah Khurami, said: “We are somewhat satisfied with the current security, but there is a need for more organized focus on thefts carried out by motorcyclists and similar incidents.”
According to Balkh police data, 289 traffic accidents occurred across the province over the past year, resulting in 164 deaths and 245 injuries.
