Pakistan Opposition Leader Warns Against Attempt to Take Over Afghanistan

The Leader of the Opposition in Pakistan’s National Assembly, in recent remarks, referring to the major defeats of British India, the Soviet Union, and the United States in Afghanistan, said that any attempt to take over Afghanistan would have dangerous consequences.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai also warned Afghanistan’s neighbors, including Pakistan, that if they harbor such intentions, they could face a fate similar to that of Britain and the Soviet Union.
The Leader of the Opposition in Pakistan’s National Assembly, said: “Afghanistan became the graveyard of British India, and the Soviet Union and the United States were severely defeated there. This is a very dangerous ambition; Afghanistan must not become a graveyard for us as well.”
The Pakistani politician also called on the UN Secretary-General to facilitate a direct meeting between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the participation of neighboring countries, so that current challenges can be resolved through dialogue.
Wahid Faqiri, a political analyst, said: “This is a very good proposal by Mr. Achakzai. The United Nations should organize a meeting in coordination with Afghanistan’s neighbors. In fact, the UN should not remain silent regarding the current tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.”
These warnings and internal criticisms in Pakistan come as tensions with Afghanistan have increased, and the future of relations and continued dialogue between the two countries remains uncertain.
In recent days, Pakistan has once again targeted several areas of Kunar province and other districts near the hypothetical Durand Line.
