Pakistan Army Chief Repeats Claim About Use of Afghan Soil Against Pakistan

Pakistan’s army chief has once again claimed that Afghan soil is being used against Pakistan in remarks delivered in Rawalpindi.
Although the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly rejected Pakistan’s allegations that Afghan territory is being used against the country, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, again called on the Islamic Emirate to prevent Afghan soil from being used against Pakistan.
Asim Munir said: “This threat continues not only from India, but also from Afghan territory. Pakistan has only one demand from Afghanistan: to stop supporting anti-Pakistan elements and completely eliminate their centers and safe havens on its soil.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Awami National Party stressed that peaceful and trade relations with all neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, are among the country’s basic needs.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain, a representative of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said tensions are not the solution and that all disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
He added: “At present, there is hope because China wants to mediate. In my opinion, China can play a positive role. This opportunity should be used. War is in no one’s interest.”
This is not the first time opposition parties in Pakistan have criticized the government’s approach toward Afghanistan. Previously, other parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, had also repeatedly called for resolving tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan through dialogue.
