Chief Justice Stresses Justice and Accountability During Northern Visit

The Chief Justice and head of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, during his visit to northern provinces of the country, emphasized the importance of upholding justice.
He instructed judicial officials to conduct thorough investigations before issuing rulings and to make decisions only after completing the necessary inquiries.
Abdul Hakim Haqqani also stressed the importance of treating petitioners respectfully, adding that parties involved in legal disputes should be provided with clear explanations and convincing justifications regarding court decisions.
Mansour Ahmad Hamza, deputy spokesman for the Supreme Court, said the meetings focused on obedience, protection of public assets, timely handling of citizens’ petitions, and avoiding injustice in official duties.
Haqqani also urged officials to avoid unnecessary social interactions, banquets, and certain gatherings.
Religious scholar Hasibullah Hanafi said that those serving in judicial positions must have a full understanding of Islamic principles and laws. He added that the implementation of hudud and ta’zir punishments is necessary for establishing an Islamic society.
The remarks come as the Supreme Court previously announced that since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, more than 1,000 murder cases across the country have been resolved through reconciliation, settlements, and the payment of diyah (blood money).
