Herat Hosts 10-Day Eid Exhibition for Women Entrepreneurs

A 10-day exhibition titled “Eid Bazaar” has been launched by women entrepreneurs in Herat.

Nearly 200 women have displayed their products for exhibition and sale at the event.

Head of the Herat Chamber of Women’s Commerce and Industries, Behnaz Saljuqi, said: “The Eid market, which opened on Saturday, will continue for 10 days. Around 200 women-owned businesses are participating in the exhibition, showcasing various products, most of which are commonly used during Eid.”

Most of the products displayed at the exhibition include clothing, dried fruits, sweets, and handicrafts.

Women entrepreneurs say the expansion of their businesses has also created job opportunities for hundreds of other women and girls.

Entrepreneur Sohaila Kakarr said: “Such exhibitions are very effective for us because we can showcase and sell our products.”

Another entrepreneur, Mastora Danish, said: “Widows and underprivileged women also work with us, and through this they are able to meet their daily needs.”

Some of the participating women entrepreneurs have recently returned from Iran. They say they had been engaged in handicrafts and other production activities there and have now restarted their businesses in Afghanistan.

Parisa Karimi, a returning entrepreneur from Iran, said: “It has been around a year since I returned from Iran. I used to do weaving and make bracelets there. Since returning here, I have been busy making woven items, decorative flowers, and bags.”

The women entrepreneurs hope their products will sell well in the women’s market and help their businesses grow further.
