Iran to Hold Joint Afghan-Iranian Products Exhibition in Jalalabad

Iran’s Consul General in Nangarhar says a joint exhibition of Afghan and Iranian products will be held in Jalalabad.

The exhibition aims to strengthen ties between Afghan and Iranian businesspeople and economic actors.

Majid Reza Panah, Iran’s Consul General in Nangarhar, said: “We felt it was necessary to take such a step so that Iranian economic actors and Nangarhar’s businesspeople could meet. This would help Afghan and Iranian traders become familiar with one another and pave the way for a joint exhibition with participation from both sides.”

Economic analysts say such joint exhibitions are effective in introducing Afghan products to foreign markets and strengthening and expanding trade relations.

Economic analyst Mohammad Karim Naseri said: “Through this exhibition, traders and investors can establish relations with businesspeople from other countries and expand their commercial activities.”

Another economic analyst, Nusratullah Obaid, said: “When domestic exhibitions are held in a country, trade expands, investors increase their investments, small businesses grow, and employment opportunities are created for many people.”

Afghan traders say that alongside such exhibitions, government support and the provision of facilities for domestic products are also important.

Afghan trader Zalmai Azimi in Nangarhar said: “Afghanistan is an import-dependent country, and such exhibitions are currently necessary. Similar exhibitions should also be organized with other neighboring countries to help expand trade exchanges.”

Shakerullah Safi, Executive Director of the Nangarhar Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “This exhibition will be beneficial for economic exchanges and the strengthening of domestic products. We also call on the government to make greater efforts to support the growth of local production.”

Similar joint exhibitions between Iran and Afghanistan have previously been held in Kabul and Balkh provinces, and participants say they have had a positive impact on trade and economic relations between the two countries.
