Zalmay Khalilzad Condemns Pakistan’s Attacks on Afghanistan

Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan last night and said that Islamabad, despite domestic and international calls to resolve the differences through dialogue, has once again attacked Afghan soil, killing and injuring dozens of civilians.

Khalilzad added that Pakistan has not yet responded constructively to the plans and proposals agreed to by the Islamic Emirate, raising the question of whether Islamabad is truly seeking to resolve the differences or pursuing other goals in Afghanistan.

He warned that if Pakistan’s goal is to destabilize Afghanistan and increase China’s influence in the region, this policy will conflict with US interests and could lead to the expansion of terrorist groups, especially ISIS-K, and exacerbate geopolitical challenges in the region.
