Afghanistan’s Domestic Exports Top $45M in First Three Months of 1405

During the first three months of the current solar year 1405, Afghanistan’s domestic exports increased significantly.

The Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment says that during this period, 53,000 metric tons of domestic products worth more than $45 million were exported.

Mohammad Yousuf Amin, Executive Director of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “These exports include animal products, fresh and dried fruits, carpets, medicinal plants, minerals, and other domestic products, which were exported through the Islam Qala border crossing and the Torghundi port in Herat.”

According to the chamber, the value of exports during the first three months of this year increased by more than $11 million compared with the same period last year.

Afghan domestic products were exported to Central Asian countries, Iran, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, European countries, India, China, and the United States.

Abdul Khaliq Khodadadi, head of the Afghanistan Saffron Consortium, said: “More countries around the world have become interested in purchasing products from Herat, particularly saffron. As a result, demand for saffron and other Herat-made products in international markets has increased, leading to higher production and greater exports.”

A large share of these exports comes from the Herat Industrial Park.

The Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines also says that exports from the industrial park are steadily increasing.

Abdul Naser Amin, Chairman of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines, said: “Nearly 115 export-oriented factories are operating in the Herat Industrial Park. We are working to expand our exports to more countries, as we have already met a significant portion of domestic market demand and now aim to strengthen our presence in international markets.”

According to local officials, Afghanistan’s dried fruits, saffron, medicinal plants, and animal products enjoy strong demand in international markets due to their high quality and have attracted a large number of buyers from various countries.
