Afghanistan and Uzbekistan emphasize expanding health and pharmaceutical cooperation

The Ministry of Public Health has announced that Maulvi Hamdullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Food and Pharmaceuticals of the Ministry, at the head of an official delegation during a visit to Uzbekistan, discussed with health officials of that country about expanding cooperation in the health, pharmaceutical and health products sectors.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Public Health, Maulvi Hamdullah Zahid met with Ilhamjan Omarzakov, Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, and discussed and exchanged views on exchanging specialized experiences and cooperation in the field of treating Afghan patients, especially patients with cancer, heart diseases and other similar diseases.

The two sides also emphasized expanding health cooperation, strengthening technical relations and providing opportunities for joint cooperation between the two countries.

The Deputy Minister of Food and Medicines of the Ministry of Public Health met separately with Abdullah Azizov, Head of the Department for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Medical Equipment of Uzbekistan, to discuss improving the capacity of technical staff, developing the pharmaceutical industry, strengthening quality control laboratories, and cooperation in the laboratory equipment sector.

Uzbek officials also announced their country’s readiness to expand comprehensive cooperation in the health, pharmaceutical, and health products sectors and emphasized the continuation of joint cooperation.
