Mullah Baradar Pledges Support for Flood Victims in Nuristan

The Islamic Emirate’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, visited Nuristan and met with families affected by the recent floods, assuring them that the government is committed to addressing their needs.

During his visit to Parun, the provincial capital of Nuristan, Baradar assessed the situation of the affected families and said the government would provide the assistance they require.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said: “Whatever Allah Almighty had granted you will be compensated with even greater assistance. However, no one can compensate for the loss of human lives, because human life is priceless.”

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) also provided cash assistance to families affected by the recent devastating floods in Nuristan.

Sayed Karim Hashemi, President of the ACCI, said: “The total value of these donations is 7.585 million Afghanis, and we hope they will help meet part of the urgent needs of the affected families.”

Flood-affected residents are calling on the government and humanitarian organizations to provide additional assistance, saying they have suffered extensive losses and need more support to rebuild their lives.

Karimullah, a tribal elder in Nuristan, said: “Nuristan is a newly established province and needs greater support, especially in the health sector.”

According to local officials in Nuristan, a devastating flood struck Parun about two weeks ago, killing 25 people and injuring more than 100 others.

Officials added that search efforts are still underway to recover the bodies of several people who remain missing.
