Police Deny Reports of Clashes in Badakhshan’s Zebak District

The Badakhshan Police Command has rejected reports by some media outlets claiming that fresh clashes took place between Islamic Emirate forces and armed groups along the Durand Line in Zebak district.

The spokesman for the Badakhshan Police Command said armed opponents had attacked an area along the Durand Line some time ago and attempted to enter Afghan territory, but Islamic Emirate forces prevented them from doing so.

Ehsanullah Kamgar, spokesman for the Badakhshan Police Command, said: “These claims are false. There may be some movements on Pakistani territory, but there is nothing on the Badakhshan side. Our forces are stationed at the zero point.”

Border forces stationed along the Durand Line also say security has been maintained in the area and that there have been no clashes with armed opponents since the earlier incident.

Zahiruddin Masoud, an officer with the Ministry of Defense, said: “We warn those who seek to harm Afghanistan’s security that if they raise their heads anywhere in Afghanistan, their heads will be cut off.”

Sanglich is a village in Zebak district located near the Durand Line. Residents of the village also say security has been maintained in the area.

Qurban Mohammad, a resident of Zebak district, said: “There is no fighting. There was fighting some time ago, but security has now been maintained.”

This comes as some armed groups opposed to the Islamic Emirate have recently released videos claiming that clashes took place in Zebak district and that they carried out attacks on Islamic Emirate forces.
