UN: Afghanistan continues to face human rights, economic and humanitarian challenges

The UN Secretary-General has said in his latest report that Afghanistan continues to face human rights, economic, humanitarian and security challenges.
The report states that restrictions on women and girls are among the main obstacles to increasing international support for Afghanistan.
According to the report, about 2.4 million girls are deprived of secondary education and one in three Afghans faces acute food insecurity.
The UN has also expressed concern about tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the lack of humanitarian aid funding and restrictions on the activities of female staff.
The UN Secretary-General has called on the Islamic Emirate to lift restrictions on women and girls and provide them with access to education and work.
