Afghanistan, Central Asia, India Sign Trade MoUs Worth Over $400M

The second Afghanistan–Central Asia–India Business Networking Event, organized by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, was held in Kabul last night.

A total of 22 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the event, with a combined value exceeding $400 million.

According to officials from the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, the largest MoU signed at the event was worth $103 million.

Aryan Zalgi Azimi, Deputy for Investment at the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “These partnerships will pave the way for trade growth, market expansion, and the strengthening of sustainable economic ties between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.”

During the event, the chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce said that 15 delegations had been exchanged between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan this year. He noted that these high-level visits had played an important role in expanding economic relations and resulted in agreements worth approximately $3 billion.

Shirzad Ibragimov, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce, said: “During these visits, agreements covering trade, investment, and industrial cooperation were signed, with a total value of nearly three billion US dollars.”

Kyrgyzstan’s ambassador also described the event as an important opportunity to expand economic cooperation with Afghanistan and encouraged Afghan investors to invest in Kyrgyzstan’s national projects.

Turdakun Sydykov, Kyrgyzstan’s ambassador, said: “I am confident that this exhibition will provide a suitable platform for establishing connections and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at expanding trade, economic, and investment relations between Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan, as well as across the region, for the prosperity of our friendly nations and peoples.”

Meanwhile, the private sectors of Afghanistan and Iran signed 28 MoUs worth $451.8 million across various economic sectors at a business networking conference held in Kabul yesterday.
