The United Nations has announced the imminent catastrophe in Afghanistan

Ramiz Alkbarov, the UN coordinator in Afghanistan, announced the imminent humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan and said that by the end of September this year, food stored in UN warehouses would run out for the country.
“Afghanistan is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe,” Alkbarov said. “Despite the fact that the United Nations and its partners will do everything possible to prevent this catastrophe, they will not be able to do so without strong and generous international support.”
“The main problem is the lack of food,” he added. “More than half of Afghans who wake up in the morning do not know if they can get food today.”
“This shipment is intended for 200,000 people and will be transferred into 20 hospitals,” Alkbarov said, referring to the first plane carrying more than 37 tons of medical equipment to land at Mazar-e-Sharif airport. Currently, 600 tons of food have been delivered to Afghanistan. “These foods are especially important for Afghan children, half of whom will be on the brink of starvation.”
According to Mr. Alkbarov, the United Nations is looking for other ways to deliver aid to Afghanistan due to the closure of Kabul airport.
