John Bolten: The Taliban should not be recognized

A former US National Security Adviser says the Taliban should not be recognized because they have broken all their commitments.

“They lied from the beginning,” John Bolten, a former US national security adviser, told VOA. I think they never intended to form an inclusive government. I think they believed that with the withdrawal of US and NATO forces, they could take full control … At this stage, there is absolutely no reason for any country to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan, they deserve it. “They do not have a reward.”

“We are not looking to make life difficult for ordinary Afghans,” the former US official said, stressing that the United States and others should speak very quietly to those who disagree with the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan. “But what we definitely do not want to do is strengthen Taliban control.”

But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied Mr Bulletin’s claims that the group had not lived up to its commitments and told VOA that the Taliban had implemented the Doha agreement and that no one had used Afghan territory against the United States and its allies. .

A Taliban spokesman went on to call Mr Bulletin a belligerent, saying the war in Afghanistan over the past two decades had been the result of such consultations and opinions.
