Breshna: Uzbekistan’s electricity imports extended for another year

Afghanistan Electricity Company announced that electricity imports from Uzbekistan to the country were extended for another year.
The Afghan Electricity Company announced today that the contract to import electricity from Uzbekistan to the country was extended for another year during three days of talks in Uzbekistan.
According to the company, the agreement was signed between Mohammad Amin, the company’s chief executive, and Dadajan Isakulov, the head of the National Electricity Company of Uzbekistan.
However, the company had previously said that due to technical problems in Uzbekistan, the country’s electricity imports to Afghanistan had decreased by 50%.
At present, according to the Afghan Electricity Company, about 30 percent of Afghanistan’s electricity comes from domestic sources and 70 percent from neighboring countries such as Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
