The number of aircraft using Afghan airspace has decreased

After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan on August 15, the number of aircraft using the country’s airspace decreased.
Ghulam Jilani Wafa, deputy head of the Taliban interim civil aviation authority, told the press that Afghanistan’s airspace was now safe and could be easily used by aircraft.
Wafa stated that these days 60 to 70 planes use Afghanistan’s airspace daily, adding that the country’s income is $ 700 per pass.
Wafa noted that in the past, about 300 aircraft a day used to pass through Afghanistan’s airspace.
Imam al-Din Ahmadi, spokesman for the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, also stressed that after the transfer of airports to a qualified company, flights using Afghanistan’s airspace will also increase.
At present, international airlines do not use Afghan airspace and change their routes because they do not consider it safe.
However, international flights to Afghanistan were suspended after the fall of the Taliban.
On the other hand, no country has so far recognized the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
There are currently flights from Afghanistan to a limited number of countries, including Iran, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Qatar.
