UNAMA: No more time should be wasted for girls to return to school in Afghanistan

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has said that more time should not be wasted for girls to return to school in Afghanistan.
Speaking to female students and women’s representatives in Kabul today, Motta Nodson, UNICEF Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Afghanistan, said that no more time should be wasted for girls to return to secondary schools and high schools.
He added that it is in the interest of all Afghans to respect the rights of women and girls.
The blockade of secondary schools and girls’ high schools by the Taliban has provoked strong reactions.
In response, the World Bank recently suspended four of its $ 600 million projects in Afghanistan.
The World Bank has announced that the projects will resume if all students in Afghanistan have access to the right to education and the situation in the country is acceptable to the people.
