Turkey condemned Biden’s remarks about the 1915 events

The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned US President Joe Biden’s remarks on the 1915 events and said that any comments related to the 1915 events that were inconsistent with historical facts and international law would not be valid.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Biden had repeated his mistakes and statements about the incidents as in 2021. We make such erroneous statements with distorted political motives and condemn those who are wrong.

The statement went on to say: “One-sided and selective approaches that have no purpose other than a hostile interpretation of history are morally problematic and politically malicious.” The humanitarian and conscientious position demands that all the sufferings of that time be cherished, regardless of ethnic or religious discrimination. Turkey respectfully recalls the sufferings of the entire Ottoman population, including Armenians.

The White House yesterday (Monday) quoted US President Joe Biden as saying in a statement that on April 24, 1915, Ottoman authorities arrested the leaders and intellectuals of the Armenian community. This genocide was one of the worst evils of the twentieth century.

“Today, we commemorate the 1.5 million Armenians who were deported and massacred,” the statement said.
