European Union: Violation of women’s rights by the Taliban is a challenge to the sovereignty of the group

The European Union’s ambassador to Afghanistan says the Taliban’s violation of women’s rights poses a challenge to the group’s continued rule.
EU Ambassador to Afghanistan Van Brandt tweeted in response to the Taliban imposing more restrictions on women that the Taliban’s continued address to the “least important” issues and ignoring the food, health, education and economic crisis is another challenge facing the Taliban government.
He added that the Taliban’s move alienates donors and the community, which is itself a problem for the group’s government.
Ministry of Promoting the Good and Forbidding the Bad of the Taliban yesterday issued a decree emphasizing that any clothing that covers the body is considered a hijab, so that it is not thin and tight, and that it is necessary for adult women to observe the hijab.
The decree states that in case of non-observance of hijab by any woman, her home will be known and her guardian will be punished.
On the other hand, a delegation has been appointed by the ministry to investigate the situation of the hijab, and the ministry has also told the media and the pulpits to preach about the ruling, importance and the benefits of the hijab and the harms of not wearing the hijab.
