Karzai: No country can prosper without the participation of women
The former president of Afghanistan yesterday in a meeting with a number of women civil rights activists called for the return of women to work and the opening of girls’ schools above the sixth grade.
During the meeting, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai praised the service of women to the country in various fields and said: “No country can achieve progress without national participation and the active presence of women in all areas of life.” To save the country from poverty and need and to achieve progress, acquiring knowledge and work together with the men and women of the country is a must.
Three days ago, the former president of Afghanistan, in response to the Taliban imposing hijab on women and girls, said that it is not the hijab, but the tradition of some other countries.
In an interview with CNN, she stressed that Afghanistan is an Islamic country and the issue of hijab is clear, saying that women in Afghanistan observe the hijab, but it is not a veil but a tradition in some countries.
He also mentioned the burqa as a culture imported from foreign countries.
