Mujahid: UNAMA’s report on human rights violations is baseless

The spokesperson of the Taliban reacted to the UNAMA report on human rights violations since the group took over Afghanistan and rejected it.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a tweet in response to UNAMA’s new report on human rights violations in Afghanistan that this report is baseless and propaganda.

The Taliban spokesman added that no arbitrary arrests and killings are allowed in the country.

According to him, if someone commits murder and self-harm, he will be considered guilty and will face legal action.

According to the report published today by the United Nations Deputy Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) regarding human rights violations since the Taliban came to power, illegal killings, cruel, inhuman and humiliating punishments have taken place under the rule of this group.

According to this report, from August 15, 2021 to June 15, 2022, 700 civilians were killed and 1,406 civilians were injured in Afghanistan.

UNAMA added that during this period, 160 cases of murder, 178 arbitrary arrests, 23 cases of illegal arrests, and 56 cases of torture and mistreatment of the soldiers of the former Afghan government have taken place.
