In a statement, the Australian branch of UNICEF expressed concern over the closure of girls’ schools in Afghanistan and said that 13 million children in this country need urgent assistance.

UNICEF continues to express concern over the uncertain future of teachers after the school closures, saying they have been without a salary for months.

It is worth mentioning that after coming to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban blocked girls’ schools and imposed many restrictions on the rights of the citizens of this country, including women and girls.
