Following the demonstations in various provinces for the liberation of Abdul Rauf, the nine-year-old boy, hundreds of people today demonstrated in Baghlan too.
Demonstrators in Cheshmeh Shir, Baghlan province, chanting “we want justice, let the innocent child be freed” called on government officials in Kabul and Balkh to arrest the kidnappers and hand over Abdul Rauf to his family.
Abdul Rauf, a nine-year-old boy from Balkh, was abducted by unknown gunmen about 50 days ago in Mazar-e-Sharif. The kidnappers are said to be in military uniform.
Meanwhile, the sit-in tent, the justice of the Turkmens still lay at the door of the governor of Balkh province.
The Turkmens in sit-ins say they will not stop the sit-in until Abdul Rauf is found. According to them, the situation in the Security Council and the Ministry of Interior has not changed yet.
Local officials in Balkh say several operations to find Abdul Rauf have so far been unsuccessful.
According to Balkh police, five people have been detained so far on charges of involvement in kidnapping.
