Earthquakes in Turkey; Nearly 3,000 people have died so far

Following two earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.6 that occurred in Turkey and Syria yesterday (Monday), nearly 3,000 people have lost their lives.
Yunus Cezar, head of disaster and emergency management of Turkey’s Disaster Management Authority, announced in a news conference in Qormanmarash city that so far, 2,921 people have lost their lives and 15,834 people have been injured as a result of two earthquakes.
According to him, so far, they have received requests for help and support from 65 countries of the world to deal with the victims of this earthquake, and in line with the plans, the teams of the mentioned countries will be transferred to the affected areas.
Following these earthquakes, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has also declared public mourning for seven days.
According to him, the Turkish flag will be at half-mast in all the agencies of this country and abroad until the evening of next Sunday.
