America sees interaction with the Islamic Emirate as an opportunity to protect its national interests
The US State Department says that it interacts with the Islamic Emirate in order to protect its national interests.
Vedant Patel, the deputy spokesperson of the ministry, said in a press conference that such an interaction with the “Taliban” is necessary to support the Afghans and the national interests of the United States.
He added that this interaction also provides an opportunity to directly discuss the release of American citizens who are imprisoned in Afghanistan with the caretaker government of this country.
