Russia’s support for Afghanistan’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, says that if the Islamic Emirate is recognized, Moscow will support Afghanistan joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
TASS news agency quoted Mr. Kabulov as saying that if the current government of Afghanistan is recognized, this support from Moscow will be fruitful.
Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan said: “If the Taliban, which is currently illegal in Russia, is recognized, Moscow will support the country’s joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”
The Islamic Emirate, praising Russia’s action, says that they expect the countries of the region to take the path of expanding political and economic relations with the caretaker government.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, said: “These are positive measures that are being taken, and the only solution to the issues between Afghanistan and the countries of the region is that the expansion of economic and diplomatic relations will make both sides benefit from it.”
Zamir Kablov also added in a part of his speech that because the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an economic organization, the first step is for Afghanistan to organize its economy so that other members of this organization see Afghanistan’s joining as logical.
Masoud, knowledgeable about economic issues, said: “I think it is in our interest if the Afghan government can make moves between the eastern and western powers for our national interests and define the interests of the east and the west based on our national interests.”
China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, India and Pakistan are members of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Afghanistan and four other countries are invited as observers in this organization.
