Construction of Steel Mill Begins in Balkh
The foundation stone of a steel mill, with a $50 million investment by a businessman, has been laid in Balkh province.
The head of the factory said that it will be constructed on 110 acres of land and will take up to five years to complete, providing employment for nearly 5,000 people.
The aim of establishing this factory is to move Afghanistan towards self-sufficiency and transform it into an exporting nation.
Naqibullah Nazari, the investor, said: “Our first phase, with the help of God, will be completed within a year. In total, we will invest $50 million over five phases, directly providing jobs for about 5,000 people, and indirectly for thousands more.”
Abdul Naseer Rashtia, the CEO of the steel factories, said: “Today, fortunately, you are aware that over $500 million has been invested in this large sector, and we have been able to provide direct employment for around 20,000 young people. The laying of the foundation stone for this large metal production center is another significant step in this regard.”
The Chamber of Commerce, Investment, Industry, and Mines of Balkh has emphasized the importance of such factories in the economic growth of the country and has called for the support of the caretaker government.
“The nation, the people, and the government all want Afghanistan to be self-sufficient and transform from an importing to an exporting country. But without the dedication of our young people and investors, we cannot achieve that vision,” Khairuddin Mayel, the deputy of ACCI, said.
Imamuddin Sanaie Zada, head of the Balkh Chamber of Industry and Mines, urged Afghan investors who have taken their capital abroad to bring it back and invest in their homeland to create jobs and help Afghanistan become self-sufficient.
The governor of Balkh has assured businessmen that the Islamic Emirate will support those who invest in the country, providing them with all necessary facilities.
Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, governor of Balkh, said that the businessmen who invest in the country will receive comprehensive support from the Islamic Emirate.
Wafa said: “We support you. Come and invest in your own country, invest for the poor, for your fellow Afghans. The Mujahideen are the heroes who brought freedom, and now it’s time for you to become economic heroes and solve the people’s financial issues.”
According to the steel factory’s management, the first phase will begin operating within a year, covering 32 acres of land at a cost of $35 million, providing jobs for approximately 1,500 people.
