Qatar Urges Global Action to Boost Humanitarian Aid in Afghanistan

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a declaration that achieving peace and sustainable development are fundamental factors in improving the situation in Afghanistan.

The statement calls on the international community to mobilize the necessary financial and technical resources to expand humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Mishal Al-Mansouri, Third Secretary of the Human Rights Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the international community in Geneva, Switzerland, urging the mobilization of financial and technical resources to strengthen humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, the statement said. Additionally, he reaffirmed Qatar’s ongoing humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people.

The ministry further stated: “The State of Qatar has called upon the international community to mobilize financial and technical resources to expand the humanitarian response in Afghanistan and ensure a decent life for the Afghan people, highlighting that achieving lasting peace and sustainable development are key factors to improve the situation in Afghanistan.”

It further emphasized Qatar’s commitment to incorporating human rights issues into discussions and supporting Afghan women’s participation in the peacebuilding and reconstruction process.

Qatar Foreign Ministry quoted Al-Mansouri: “He stressed Qatar’s keenness on incorporating issues related to human rights in the discussions, particularly supporting and enhancing the participation of Afghan women in the peace-making and building process and ensuring their right to education and equal employment opportunities.”

Fazl Rahman Oria, a political analyst, said: “Qatar plays a significant role in strengthening governance, both domestically and internationally.”

Meanwhile, Suhail Shaheen, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador to Qatar, emphasized that development programs and humanitarian aid contribute to stability and poverty reduction in Afghanistan. He welcomed Qatar’s position on providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

Suhail Shaheen said: “Qatar, a friendly nation familiar with Afghanistan’s history, culture, and values, understands the country’s needs and plays a positive role. We highly appreciate such efforts.”

In recent years, Qatar has hosted international discussions on Afghanistan, including the Doha peace talks.
