Afghan Interior Ministry: All Border Crossings and Airports Are Secure

The Ministry of Interior says that security has been ensured across all border crossings and airports in the country, and that border forces are fully equipped with the necessary resources.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Abdul Mateen Qani, a dedicated budget has been allocated to border security and specific plans have been implemented to strengthen it.
Speaking to , Qani said: “Border forces are deployed at all of the country’s borders and airports. They are well-equipped and professionally trained. The remaining border areas fall under the authority of the Ministry of National Defense. We assure you with full confidence that no one has been harmed and no one will be harmed. These concerns are unwarranted. A significant budget has been designated for border security, and solid plans have been developed.”
Some analysts argue that in addition to physical security at the borders, there needs to be greater investment in the technical and logistical capacities of the border forces, so they can effectively respond to potential threats.
Fazl Rahman Oria, a political affairs analyst, said: “Security and stability in Afghanistan are fully institutionalized. There are no concerns about the country’s geographical security with neighboring states. However, occasional security concerns raised by regional countries are usually related to extra-regional threats.”
Jabar Akbari, another political analyst, stated: “The more frequently Islamic Emirate leaders inspect border areas and strengthen defense forces, especially by providing them with equipment that enables effective defense against any claims or border aggression by other countries, the more it benefits Afghanistan and the Islamic Emirate. The Emirate must ensure Afghan soldiers have access to modern weaponry.”
Afghanistan shares borders with six countries via 20 provinces and 90 districts, and is connected to Pakistan through the hypothetical Durand Line. Border security has consistently been a core topic in Afghanistan’s security and diplomatic discussions over recent years.
