Afghanistan Aid and UK sign £22m agreement

The British humanitarian organisation Afghanistan Aid has announced that it has signed a three-year agreement worth an initial £22m with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
According to the organisation, the project will enable Afghanistan Aid and its partners in the Afghan Resistance Coalition (ARC) to address the complex and interconnected challenges posed by climate vulnerability and food insecurity in Afghanistan.
The programme is designed to support vulnerable communities and build resilience to climate and food crises.
The announcement states that 22.9 million people in Afghanistan currently require humanitarian assistance.
The project is part of the UK’s wider efforts to support the people of Afghanistan to reduce the impact of humanitarian crises, improve livelihoods and strengthen climate-smart agriculture, which can help reduce dependence on emergency aid.
