Salarzai Elders Warn Islamabad; PTI to Protest Over Imran Khan’s Detention

Tribal elders of the Salarzai tribe, after a public gathering in Bajaur, have called on the Pakistani government to end targeted attacks in the tribal areas.
They warned that if interference in tribal affairs continues and their demands are not met, they will sever ties with the Pakistani government. A Bajaur resident said: “The decision of the Salarzai tribe is that the government should hand over all provincial expenditures, army forces, and other matters to us.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in a press conference, strongly criticized the Pakistani government’s approach toward the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
Suhail Afridi said the government had not allowed them to meet with Imran Khan, the party’s leader.
He added: “Unfortunately, even after being held there all night, we were still not granted a meeting. In the morning, we went to the Islamabad High Court and informed them, but they too denied the meeting.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that a protest will be held on Tuesday in front of the Islamabad High Court to draw attention to the condition of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is in prison.
Afridi said the protest will continue to the gates of Adiala Prison.
He further stated: “On Tuesday, all members of parliament, including provincial, national assembly, and senate representatives, will gather in protest outside the Islamabad High Court to demand swift proceedings on the cases of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, who have been unjustly imprisoned. Afterward, all representatives will go to Adiala Prison to show solidarity with Imran Khan’s sisters.”
Earlier, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also accused the Pakistani government of fueling state-made insecurity in the province, saying the people are tired of the government’s imposed approach.
