Russian-Kazakh Trade Delegation Holds Economic Talks in Kabul

A joint trade delegation from Russia and Kazakhstan, during a visit to Kabul, held talks with officials of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) on expanding economic cooperation, increasing bilateral trade, and attracting investment.

During the meeting, the head of the ACCI highlighted Afghanistan’s rich mineral and economic potential and invited Russian and Kazakh investors to invest in mining, iron processing and smelting, and other production projects.

The two sides also emphasized expanding Afghanistan’s exports, facilitating visa issuance for businesspeople, holding joint trade meetings, and signing cooperation agreements.

Ehsanullah Ehsan, head of public relations at the chamber, said: “Hashemi announced that Afghanistan is ready to expand exports of its high-quality products—including fresh and dried fruits, saffron, pine nuts, medicinal herbs, carpets, and precious stones—to the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan.”

The Russian trade delegation also announced that more than 100 Russian traders and investors are prepared to visit Afghanistan to explore investment opportunities and cooperation with the country’s private sector.

Economic analysts say such visits could open a new chapter in Afghanistan’s economic relations with Russia and Kazakhstan.

Economic analyst Mohammad Nabi Afghan said: “Russia and Kazakhstan are among Afghanistan’s key trading partners. It is necessary to work directly with these countries to address existing challenges in trade, transit, and transportation. The government should take more serious measures to facilitate commerce and the movement of goods.”

Russia and Kazakhstan are among Afghanistan’s major economic partners, and cooperation between the three countries in trade, petroleum products, grain, mining, investment, and transit has expanded in recent years.
