Islamic Emirate Says Women’s Rights Are Protected Under Sharia

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, told that women’s rights in Afghanistan are ensured in accordance with Islamic Sharia.

According to Mujahid, the Islamic Emirate considers it its responsibility to provide women with their rights and meet their needs within the framework prescribed by Islamic law.

Zabihullah Mujahid, Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has ensured all the rights of our sisters that are required under Sharia and considers itself fully committed to fulfilling these obligations. There should be no concern in this regard.”

Earlier, several participants on the sidelines of the Ninth Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad emphasized the need to ensure women’s rights in Afghanistan.

Political analyst Samiullah Ahmadzai said: “Many such meetings have been held before by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where Islamic countries have called for discussions on women’s empowerment and progress. However, the key issue is that sufficient work has not been done on women’s rights.”

Meanwhile, a number of political analysts believe the OIC can play an important role in narrowing differences between Islamic countries and the Afghan government.

They argue that officials of the Islamic Emirate should also be invited to participate in such meetings.

Political analyst Sayed Ebad Sadiq said: “The absence of the Islamic Emirate from OIC meetings has negative consequences because the issues discussed there concern Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the broader Islamic world.”

The meeting comes as women’s education and rights remain among the key issues in Afghanistan’s engagement with Islamic countries and the international community.
