Uganda is ready to accept 2,000 Afghan refugees

Following the announcement of Britain that it has promised to accept 20,000 Afghan refugees, Uganda is now ready to accept 2,000 Afghan refugees, according to the BBC.
Refugee Minister Esther Aniacon told the BBC the deal was at the request of the US government.
He said the first group of 500 refugees was scheduled to arrive in the country on Tuesday, but officials said discussions on the arrangements were still ongoing.
Uganda is now home to about 1.3 million people and has a long history of welcoming refugees.
New immigrants are said to take the Corona test before being sent to the facility, which is paid for by the United States.
