In three separate attacks in Pakistan killed five soldiers and wounded six civilians

Pakistani security forces announced yesterday that at least five security personnel, including three soldiers and two policemen, were killed and six civilians were wounded in three separate attacks in the western part of Pakistan, which borders Afghanistan.

Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in a shootout with militants in the Hawshab area of Pakistan’s Torbat district, while a third soldier was killed while trying to clear an improvised explosive device, Reuters reported, quoting the Pakistan Armed Forces Communications Branch.

However, Pakistani police say two policemen were killed and six civilians, including a young girl, were injured in attacks in northern Pakistan near Afghanistan.

“Two policemen were killed in an improvised explosive device blast at around 10am,” Abdul Samad Khan, a senior Bajaur district police officer, told Reuters.

Another attack took place on the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, in which a policeman and five people were injured, including a young girl and three women.

Ali Reza, a senior police officer, said the incident was caused by an explosion of materials embedded in a motorcycle.

The attacks come as local Taliban militants agreed to a month-long ceasefire after talks with the Pakistani government.

However, a local Taliban spokesman denied responsibility for the attacks, saying the group would abide by the ceasefire.
